PENELOPE CRUZ has married her boyfriend Javier Bardem in a low-key ceremony. The Spanish Oscar winners exchanged vows in front of close family at a friend's house in the Bahamas. The ceremony earlier this month, which has been confirmed by Cruz's agent, followed weeks of engagement rumours.

The actress, affectionately known as Pe in her native Spain, wore a stunning John Galliano dress, bringing tears to Javier's eyes. The couple started dating three years ago when they filmed Woody Allen's Vicky Cristina Barcelona, for which Cruz won an Oscar.

Sandra Bullock (2010) Bullock won the Oscar for best actress this year for her film The Blind Side. Shortly after receiving the Oscar, Bullock’s husband of five years, Jesse James, admitted to having cheated on her while she was away filming for The Blind Side. It came as a shock to Bullock and all her fans, more so because in her acceptance speech, she said, “You get dressed up in monkey suits and you sit at a table with people you don't know. I love you so much, and you're really hot. And I want you so much!”

Gasp. In recent weeks, not only one but two Best Actress winners have witnessed their personal lives dissolve. Spooky. It can only mean one thing. There must be a curse on all winners of that shiny little statue.Firstly it was splitsville for last year’s victor, Kate Winslet, who suddenly announced the end of her seven-year marriage to Sam Mendes.

Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock yesterday became the latest Hollywood leading lady to be hit by the curse of the golden statuette. A heavily-tattooed model yesterday claimed she has had an 11-month affair with her husband Jesse James, just days after winning an Oscar as Best Actress for her role in The Blind Side.

Bullock pulled out of movie promotional events after Michelle “Bombshell” McGee told In Touch magazine that she and James began their affair as the actress was filming The Blind Side. McGee said she met James after he responded to her request for information about modelling on his television show West Coast Choppers. She said he was ambiguous about his relationship with Bullock. “We ended up on the couch ,” she told the magazine.

Sandra Bullock's Oscar win has been tainted by percolating rumours her husband Jesse James has cheated on her with a tattoo model. Bullock's cancelled appearance at the London premiere of her movie The Blind Side is being taken as a sign the rumours have credence.

According to a celeb weekly, In Touch, James told Michelle 'Bombshell' McGee his marriage to this year's Best Actress was over during a romance that took place while Bullock was away from home filming for acclaimed The Blind Side.

James is a twice-divorced father of three who married Bullock, 45, in 2005. According to The Sydney Morning Herald, he has wiped a Twitter account he used frequently.

McGee – who reportedly used the nickname Vanilla Gorilla to reflect James's endowment – was quoted saying: 'I would never have hooked up with him if I thought he was a married man. He gave me the impression they were separated.' She said they met when McGee emailed him about the possibility of modelling for the West Coast Choppers. She said that after she went over to see him: 'We ended up on the couch. He wanted to watch movies, but I asked him, 'What's going on with you and Sandra?' He said, 'She doesn't live here. She has a house in Austin. She is filming, and I can't talk about it.'.

I hardly ever watch the Oscars. A lot of what I like to see in a film seldom gets nominated. For a while there, it seemed that weirdness was what the honors were all about, and I prefer a genuine story with a plausible script. Of course that requires real writing with less emphasis on things being blown up, people getting naked, magic carpet rides and ghosts, etc. Well, naked ain’t so bad if it’s handled correctly. Tom Sawyer could hardly go skinny dipping with his clothes on.

But this year, the Avatar flying lizard show didn’t win Best Picture even though it was the highest box office grossing movie of all times. Instead, that Oscar went to “Hurt Locker,” a screenplay by a journalist who had returned from the Iraq war and decided that what he had seen and experienced should be put on film. It became the lowest grossing film ever to win an Oscar.
