Sandra is nominated for Best Actress in next month's Oscars for her role in The Blind Side. It will be her first nomination since shooting to fame with her 1994 film, Speed.

1. Born Sandra Annette Bullock in Arlington Virginia in 1964. She can speak fluent German and has an estimated fortune of $85 million.

2. Her grandfather was a rocket scientist from Nuremberg and her dad, John W. Bullock, is a German opera singer and voice coach.

3. She dropped out of University when she was 22 just 3 credits from graduating to pursue an acting career in Manhattan.

4. She owns a Texan restaurant named Bess Bistro and another shop in downtown Austin which sells flowers and baked goods.

5. She has an impressive list of past boyfriends including Matthew McConaughey and Bob Schneider.

7. In 2000 Sandra was a survivor of a plane crash which landed on a snow bank instead of the runway. Whilst filming The Proposal Sandra was involved in a head on car collision with a drunk driver.
