Mo'Nique is the only Oscar nominee who's more comfortable doing standup than standing in front of a camera. She left her comfort zone to play an abusive mother in "Precious." Mo'Nique couldn't imagine how her character could be "so evil." After doing the horrible things she had to do to Precious, Mo'Nique says she had to "walk away and shake it off."
Despite her nomination, Mo'Nique still can't bring herself to say she's an actress. She says standup comedy will always be her "baby."Another nominee, Vera Farmiga, got to film love scenes with George Clooney in "Up in the Air," but she couldn't enjoy them. She had just had a baby before filming and even though the director gave her time to breast feed, she still had a few accidents while kissing Clooney. Farmiga's co-star, Anna Kendrick, is also in this category, along with Maggie Gyllenhaal for "Crazy Heart" and Penelope Cruz for "Nine."
